The existing solutions range from expensive accountants who handle the complexity for you, to confusing software that automates the easy parts while leaving the hard parts manual. Neither option works well for the 400,000+ small businesses operating at under $2M revenue.

Venture Alpha was built to fill this gap: software that genuinely automates the compliance workflow end-to-end, not just the data entry portion of it.

What We Built

Automated GST Filing — Venture Alpha connects directly to accounting data sources, reconciles transactions automatically, and produces IRD-ready GST returns. The user reviews, adjusts if needed, and submits in minutes rather than hours.

Financial Reporting — Profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow — generated automatically from the same source data, formatted for the user and their accountant. No manual entry, no formatting time.

Compliance Calendar — Every compliance deadline, tracked automatically. Alerts before due dates. A single view of what’s upcoming, what’s overdue, and what’s been filed.

Exception Handling — The 10% of transactions that don’t reconcile automatically are surfaced clearly, with context, for quick resolution.

How We Built It

Studio originated — identified the problem, validated the market, designed the product, and built it ourselves. Strategy, design, and engineering worked as a single integrated team from day one. The 18 months since launch have been characterised by tight feedback loops with our early customer cohort.

Where We Are Now

280+ small businesses using the platform. Growing MRR at 15% month-on-month since launch. NPS of 62 — well above industry average for SME software. Monthly churn of 1.8%.
